The groups offer the opportunity for gay men to meet other gay men living/affected by HIV, to share experiences, support and advice in a safe, friendly and comfortable environment. There is an experienced group worker who can provide one-to-one support during the session. The groups also provide discussions on particular topics of interest, for example, relationships, disclosure, sex and one night stands, recreational drugs and combination therapy. There is also the opportunity for guest speakers to be involved in the particular topics for discussion which the group chooses. Refreshments are provided at the groups. The Gay Men’s groups give the opportunity to raise any issues as well as giving the chance to make the group one’s own.
At the Gay Men’s group there is the opportunity to get a complementary therapy.
If you feel that you would like someone to make contact with you before coming along to one of the Gay Men’s groups, the Positive Place can provide you with a mentor who will make contact with you and will also be at the group to which you choose to come along.
